Country Artist Benefit News

...The “One Country” concert has been announced for Hurricane Katrina relief, with George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson and Martina McBride performing at Houston’s Reliant Stadium on Oct. 1. Other acts are expected to be added to the show which is staged and produced by Houston-based concert promoter Louis Messina. “One Country” will be produced entirely with donated equipment and services including use of the facility. Tickets go on sale Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets, with Ticketmaster service charges also to be donated. The show will air live on CMT at 7 p.m. CT

...Brooks & Dunn are sending a pair of their semi-tractor trailers to Jackson, Miss. with supplies for the people devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Sam’s Club helped with the relief effort

...Reba McEntire contributed time to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts by working the phones and taking donations during the first hour of the multi-network Shelter From The Storm concert. Reba will also be the centerpiece of a music feature in the December issue of O magazine

...Sugarland performed “Stand Back Up” on ReAct Now: Music & Relief. The group has agreed to donate all proceeds from the sale of the e-single to hurricane relief efforts

...On Sep. 28 at the Expo Center off Music Valley Drive, the Music City Jam will feature Lila McCann, John Stone, Cowboy Crush, Little Texas and others to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The event is sponsored by Music City Motorplex, and hosted by radio talent Steve Gill (WWTN 99.7)
